Skyline Review
Well I was hoping this movie would be a modern day Independence Day, exciting, visually stunning alien invasion movie.
Skyline is not ID4, I was not excited, I was mildly interested, and slightly bored at the same time, the effects are ok, nothing special, but its the total lack of story, and interesting characters that ruin it, why are the aliens here? etc.
The characters are a bunch of whiney boring rich kids who are less engaging then new personas introduced in an average episode of House.
In V the aliens came for Earths Water, in ID4 they came to destroy us, the Vulcans came because we invented warp drive, in Skyline it seems they are coming for our brains.
But its the ending which destroys this movie, I wont give it away, better just to rent on DVD and do yourself a favor.

I think they were trying to make cool characters with those rich guys. It backfired.
I was astounded by the ending and wondered what kind of studio exec would greenlight a movie like this. I don’t know, I wondered about the amount of ego that played into the writing of this movie and felt for the writers who had to deal with those notes, just hoping he didn’t come up with a mess like this in the first place.
I don’t even recommend it on DVD. Wait for it on cable. Preferably on a night you nave nothing better to watch.
